ACDi had the opportunity to promote several employees from within the organization in 2015 to fulfill open positions in various project management, inventory management and document control roles.
When a Project Manager position became open in July at ACDi’s Frederick, MD plant, they received 3 internal applicants. Dustin Knox, formerly ACDi’s Materials / Warehouse Manager, was the successful applicant. Dustin has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, and has worked at ACDi for 6 years in various roles including the warehouse, AOI, and data prep. “Dustin’s experience with work order and materials and inventory management is a huge advantage in the PM role as the foundation of that position requires proper planning,” said Gabe Kenny, ACDi’s Chief Operation Officer.
Mr. Knox’s move led to the opening of the Materials / Warehouse Manager position, for which ACDi received both internal and external applicants. Dave Hornbaker, formerly an ACDi SMT Lead Operator, was the successful applicant. Mr. Hornbaker has worked at ACDi for 11 years supporting both SMT and AOI roles. “Working at SMT has prepped me, in part, for this role – I know how materials must be handled, stored and importantly, how a materials kit should move to the floor to achieve the greatest efficiency,” said Mr. Hornbaker.
Linda Maman was also promoted to fill an open position in ACDi’s corporate Document Control, or EPS, department. Linda had worked at ACDi for 1 year in various production roles including solderer prior to taking the position as EPS Specialist. Per ACDi’s Engineering Services Manager, Garret Maxson, “This role is a big part of our Quality system and it requires knowledge of how to interpret customer provided documentation including BOMs and Assembly drawings. Linda’s experience in production has definitely aided her in the EPS role.”
As noted by ACDi’s HR Manager, Amanda Rhinecker, “We’re thrilled to be able to promote from within. Electronics Manufacturing Services is a very specialized market, and it is not surprising that sometimes the best candidates are from within the company.”
