How to Ensure a Successful New Product Introduction (NPI)

Introducing a new product to market is a complex process. Are you prepared for the hundreds of potential pitfalls and common challenges that come with each step, resulting in increased time to market and budget?

Even for a quick-turn, small-run prototype, ACDi’s New Product Introduction (NPI) process can reduce time-to-market, increase quality and reduce the costs associated with production and assembly.

Successful NPIs need to start with creating a blueprint. From there you will need prototypes, a valid production schedule, documentation, design and engineering support. There are many moving parts to an NPI including:

Key Elements of a New Product Introduction

  • Pre-Production Documentation Support
  • Quick-Turn Prototyping
  • Design for Manufacturability Checks
  • Quality Control Flagging
  • Quick Production Ramp Ups
  • Implementation of ECOs
  • Design and Engineering Support

Product standards and regulations are constantly changing, so during the NPI process be sure to verify that your product meets all of the latest criteria to ensure compliance and reduce the potential for unforeseen delays or required redesign and retests.

Launching a new product can be an intimidating process, and our in-house design and engineering support team can help ensure that your new product introduction goes as planned. We are an AS9100D and ISO 9001:2008 certified company with over three decades of combined experience in NPI.

ACDi has two manufacturing plants on the East Coast. Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and ample space for storage, manufacturing, testing and inspection as well as finished goods stocking, shipping and receiving. Our NPI test solutions include initial reviews of designs for testability performed by test engineering staff and maximization of test coverage. Distributed test plans include automated optical inspection (AOI), flying probe test, boundary scan and bench testing.

Our team of experts across many industries and specialties will work as an extension of your own business, to guide you through the NPI process and help turn your concepts into functional product.
